Press Release - 22 March 2017

Bishop Paul Mason to lead Apostleship of the Sea Holy Island Pilgrimage

Bishop Paul Mason, new Bishop Promoter for Apostleship of the Sea (AoS), will lead the annual pilgrimage to Holy Island this year.

Now in its 14th year, the pilgrimage organised by AoS, will be held on Saturday 17 June.

Bishop Mason, who was born in North Shields, Tyne & Wear, will join other pilgrims in prayer and reflection in the peaceful and beautiful surroundings of the island.

As is customary, the day will start with the Celtic Prayer on the Beach at noon. This has become a popular feature, and sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Prayers will be offered for our Bishops, seafarers, those who suffer, the dead, and for peace. There will also be readings and music.

At 3pm, Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Anglican Church.

All are invited to attend and share in this day of prayer and reflection.

For more information please contact either Deacon Peter Barrigan (07713 924 504) or Paul Atkinson (07906 212 426).

Please note safe times to cross the causeway on 17 June are between 11.15 and 19.40.
